Nkechi Anele from Triple J Roots n All show, says, “Salt and Steel are a dynamic duo who go from strength to strength bringing nothing less than power and passion to their music.”

Formed in Grafton in regional NSW and now based in Petrie in regional Queensland, but often on the road in their eco-inspired portable stage touring van, Salt and Steel are two songwriting and life companions, Briony Edgar and Elle Steel.

Queer & gender diverse lifestyles inspired by surf, skate, punk and swamp underpin their wild garage rock sounds and live performance, comparable to acts such as Royal Blood, The Black Keys and even PJ Harvey.

“Hooked from the first time we heard them! Salt and Steel will light up any stage, anywhere with their energetic, foot stomping, sweet sounds. Captivating every audience, they don’t disappoint.”
Gavin Butlin, Founder of Airlie Beach Festival of Music.

Their endearing openness has seen them form strong bonds with artists they have performed alongside at festivals and venues including GFlip, Lime Cordiale, Rudimental, Milky Chance, Tash Sultana, Wolfmother, Ash Grunwald, Tex Perkins, The Superjesus, You Am I, Phil Jamieson (Grinspoon) and The Beautiful Girls, just to name a few.

They are known for music that is fierce, emotive, genuine and surprising, displaying a supreme coolness whilst maintaining an openness that engages people of all ages and backgrounds. Salt and Steel clearly love what they do and the energy they possess on and off stage is truly contagious.

“A powerhouse rock act performing a mesmerizing show on all counts!”
